Party Baby Shower and Baby Shower Invitations

Throwing a Party Baby Shower, http://www.cards-411.com/baby-shower-party/party-baby-shower can be a lot of fun. You gather friends and family together to celebrate one of the most special events imaginable: a new arrival in the family. And, of course, the best of these parties always start off with the perfect Baby Shower Invitations, http://www.express-invitations.com/baby-shower-invitations/ But that’s a lot of pressure to put you under if you’re the host, right? So why not let the online baby stationery shoppes give you some useful advice that will help you choose the perfect invites for your Baby Shower Party, http://www.cardsshoppe.com/baby-shower-invitations/baby-shower-party.htm

Consider the Theme

Many hosts today have started using baby shower themes to provide a consistent look and feel to the party they are throwing. Tons of possible themes are available – the only limit is really your imagination. The important thing is that you keep the theme in your mind when you start looking at the invitations for the event. Because you do want consistency, the invite should match the theme, at least in some way. One idea of a theme for your baby shower parties would be teddy bears. You can find plenty of stationery choices at many shoppes showing adorable stuffed bears and that can be carried on in your party, including bear-shaped cakes, stuffed bear decorations, even bear baby shower decorations and diaper cake centerpiece.

What Would the Parents Like

Although the party is mainly about celebrating the new baby, much of the focus is going to be on the parents and that means you should also think about what they would like to see happen at the event. How can you do that? Well, when it comes to the babyshower invites choice, you might want to think about something the parents really like. For example, maybe they are football fans. In that case, you can use the football cards as your choice for an invitation. Incidentally, football makes a great theme, too. And prior to past views, that football theme can work for both baby boys and girls.

Consider Your Baby Shower Budget Costs

Remember that you’re going to be planning baby shower so you can’t necessarily afford to blow your entire budget on the baby shower supplies. And that’s another way these shoppes are going to be able help you. First of all, we make sure that all of our Party Baby Shower cards are affordable so you can purchase what you need and have plenty of money left over to pay for the rest of the event. But we also take that one step further by offering free invites with every order. So not only do we offer some of the lowest prices possible but we also give you free cards as a way of saying thank you for choosing them for your special stationery needs.

Keep in mind that no matter what type of invitations you inevitably select, an amazing Party Baby Shower is a great way to welcome that new baby into the world.

How to Decorate for a Baby Shower

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

There is no reason to worry when purchasing the baby shower decorations and other supplies. There are numerous options to select from that will perfectly fit your schedule and your financial position. Simply be creative and patient with the research.

The baby shower decorations and supplies that you will certainly be needing would be the streamers, balloons, centerpieces for the tables, party give-aways, ribbons, invites and game prizes. Other supplies would include ingredients for any food you plan to make and naturally, decorating supplies for the baby shower cake.

Almost all of the time, these unique baby shower supplies and decorations can be acquired all at the same time at specialty stores or online. Dollar stores offer not only cheap items but they sometimes have a total line-up of the baby shower decorations and other supplies that you’re going to need for the celebration. These are single-stop shops that remove all the hassles of going from one store to the other.

If you are doing this, you might either purchase everything from the Net or you might buy them in any discount stores. Since you are purchasing the majority of the things in volume anyway, they come awfully cheap because they are sold at wholesale cost.

Themed baby showers are not so much of a trouble when you go buying all the party desires. As an example, choosing Winnie the Pooh to represent the cuteness of the baby to be born has all items in kits. Examples of items that are available are invitations with envelopes, plates, serviettes, glasses, cutlery, table cover, decorated streamers, balloons and kinky ribbons.

Baby shower specialists would even offer unique designs for your themed baby shower party supplies. They are merely a telephone call away and you can place your order right there. You can have all the items sent right to your step if you need.

But before you go and purchase all the baby shower decorations and supplies, ensure that you made a list so you don’t have to go back to the store and purchase those items you didn’t remember to list down. Make sure also that you’ve got the numbers right. That suggests that you must have the correct estimate of the amount of guests who would be coming.

How to Get Siblings Involved in the Baby Shower

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

Congratulations! Having a baby is a wondrous experience and it’s definitely something special to be having a second, third, fourth or fifth child. This is when you get to experience the joys of having a baby and you know what you’re doing! For the older sibling, it can sometimes be hard to adjust to the thought of having another child to share the attention of mom and dad. One of the great ways to help eliminate some of the stress is to get your child actively involved in the pregnancy. Talk to them about being a new big brother or big sister and how the new baby will look up to them and let them help you become prepared. Here are some great ideas on how to get siblings involved in the baby shower.

Have a Different Sort of Baby Shower –

One of the things that you can do to get older siblings involved is to have an ‘Introducing My Little Brother or Sister’ party. The focus of the party is now on both or all of your children, so that the older sibling is very much involved. Allow them to help you decorate for the party. Choose a cake that they think their little brother or sister will love and of course, allow them to choose the baby a gift from them they think will be wonderful. When older children are more involved with the pregnancy and life of the new baby, they will be less stressed, less nervous and have reduced fear about the new baby.

Gifts for Big Brother or Big Sister –

Gifts for the older child at the baby shower are also a wonderful idea. It turns the shower into a party for the big brother or sister as well as for the baby. Wonderful ideas of gifts may include educational toys that the older child will love to play with. Another is special t-shirts for the older child so they can proudly say, “I’m a Big Brother,” or “I’m a Big Sister.” Even a fun puzzle or a miniature rocking chair would be wonderful in this situation. It’s all about letting the child know that they are extremely special and that they are going to have a very large part in the life of the new baby!

Let the Child Do Things at the Shower –

Perhaps they can pass out the supplies for a shower game or help serve cake and ice cream. You might even have them take pictures for the baby to see when he or she is a bit older. Of course, you can judge what to let them help with depending upon their ages. The whole point is to simply have the older child feeling more involved and very important so that they don’t feel like they are left out of the spotlight. For a young child, this can be quite a hard feeling to deal with. As a smart Mom and Dad, thinking ahead and using these methods, you’ll rid that feeling from the very start!

These ideas will help make the transition smoother for the older child and in fact, they may have no problems at all with the arrival of the new baby. Ultimately they will bond with the child before it’s even born, the same way that you do, by being a great big brother or sister from the very beginning!

Your Baby Shower Cake Options

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

A baby shower is a way for family and friends to celebrate the expected arrival of a new baby with the parents-to-be. It is a joyous occasion and fun for all!  But hosting a great baby shower takes some real planning.  A very important part of the planning process is the cake.  Every baby shower needs a cake, but the cake can serve as more than just a dessert–it can also double as a decoration, even a centerpiece!

Most baby showers have a theme, and the entire party is based on that theme. The cake is no exception and should also follow whatever theme you’ve chosen.  If you’re talented and can bake and decorate a cake (or know someone who can), you may want to have a home-made cake.  Or you can order one from a bakery, making sure you place your order in plenty of time for the shower.

Once you’ve decided whether it will be home-made or store-bought, you will need to decide what type of cake to have.  There are many different varieties of baby shower cakes to choose from. Some of them are listed below:

·    Angelfood cake
·    Butter cake
·    Butterfly cake
·    Carrot cake
·    Cheesecake
·    Chocolate cake
·    Chiffon cake
·    Cupcake
·    Devil’s food cake
·    Fruit cake
·    Gingerbread
·    Ice cream cake
·    Mooncake
·    Pineapple upside down cake
·    Pound cake
·    Spice cake
·    Sponge cake

Then there’s the filling to consider:

· more icing
· different flavors of fruit preserves
· pudding
· custard
· whipped cream
· jams
· peanut butter
· pure chocolate

Not only should you consider what type of cake to have but also how you might be able to decorate the cake in a way that will make the baby shower celebration more special.  Here are some ideas:

1. Belly Cake. One great idea is to design a baby shower cake and make it look like a pregnant belly. This can be done by placing a circular cake in front of a rectangular cake and frosting them together to resemble that of a pregnant belly.

2. Toy Blocks Cake. Another idea is to design a baby shower cake and make it look like children’s toy blocks (either one large block or 3 to 4 smaller blocks). Toy block cakes can be further enhanced by surrounding them with candies or little toy cars.

3. An Autograph Cake.  This is a great idea where “Congratulations” is the only word on the cake, leaving room for each of the guests to “sign” their own name in icing.  A picture of the cake is taken when everyone has signed it, making a great keepsake for the parents-to-be.

4. A Character Cake.  The cake can be made in the form of a character, such as Pooh Bear.

5. A Baby Bib Cake.  Another idea similar to the character cake, but the cake looks like a baby bib.

There are so many different things you can do with a baby shower cake.  Here are just a few other suggestions for cake shapes:

Baby Buggy
Baby Booties
Bassinet
Baby Bottle
Noah’s Ark

There’s also a “diaper” cake.  But watch out–it’s really made of diapers and not edible!

Of course, you can also experiment with creative ideas of your own, or check out the cake design book at your local grocery store or bakery for ideas. Remember that the ‘goal’ is not only to make a yummy dessert, but also a great centerpiece or decoration that will stand out in the memories of the parents-to-be.  But don’t forget, stick to the baby shower theme!

Lovely Baby Shower Cakes – A Long Delicious List

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

When a baby is born, many families celebrate the coming of a new member by conducting baby showers. Although originally only for the first-born, nowadays baby showers are held for every baby a family welcomes into the world.

Usually baby showers are arranged and organized by friends and relatives of the to-be parents. These parties help parents get a head start on the things needed for the baby. However there are many religious beliefs and cultures that consider it bad luck and do not feel it is proper to have parties and bring into the home baby things before the birth of the baby.

Baby showers have many names. Some examples are:
• Daddy’s shower – a party for men only, namely dads-to-be.
• Grandma shower- is a party where items like changing pads and collapsible cribs are brought by the guests to be kept at the grandparents house.
• Baby sprinklers- a party held on a small scale for succeeding children for parents who don’t need too many gifts or items.

Commonly, baby showers have a theme around which the party is centered. The essential components of a baby shower include presents, games, food and cake.

Without a cake, no baby shower party is complete. One of the main attractions of a baby shower is the cake and there are various basic techniques for making them :

1. All-in-together – this involves gradually adding liquid ingredients after the placement of the dry ingredients along with the shortening in the food processor.
2. Creaming method – this involves creaming sugar and butter together and then gradually adding the remaining items.
3. Rubbing method- this involves rubbing the dry ingredients with the butter before gradually adding liquid ingredients.
4. Melt and mix- this involves first mixing together the dry ingredients, followed by adding melted butter and then the remaining liquid ingredients later.
5. Sponge making – this involves whipping the sugar and eggs into a froth and carefully mixing in the flour. Here, there is no fat or raising agent used so making the light sponge needs great skill.

Icing, frosting or toppings (like sprinkles) are usually used to enhance the finished cakes and to make them look more pleasing.
There are a number of cakes one can select for a baby shower. Some are as listed:
• Butter cake
• Angelfood cake
• Carrot cake
• Butterfly cake
• Cheesecake
• Chiffon cake
• Chocolate cake
• Cupcake
• Fruit cake
• Devil’s food cake
• Gingerbread
• Mooncake
• Ice cream cake
• Pineapple upside down cake
• Sponge cake
• Spice cake
• Pound cake

In addition to the numerous cakes, there are a number of ideas for baby shower cakes that can make the baby shower celebration much more special:

1. Toy Blocks Cake. One more idea is designing the baby shower cake to make it resemble children’s toy blocks, either three to four small blocks or just one large block. Surrounding the toy block cake with little toy cars or candies can further enhance the cake.
2. Belly cake. One terrific idea is designing the baby shower cake to make it resemble a pregnant belly. This can be done by frosting together a circular cake and a rectangular cake after placing the circular one on top of the other, to make it look similar to a pregnant belly.

Another interesting option is to experiment and come up with a creative idea of your own. One must always keep in mind that the goal is not just making a delicious cake but also to make a terrific centerpiece that commemorates the to-be-parents.

Hosting a Bridal Shower

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

Hostessing a bridal shower is a brilliant way for guests to get to know the bride a lot better and also those who are attending the wedding. It generally makes the atmosphere at the wedding and reception much more comfortable and people less awkward to be around.

Organising this shower (especially if it quite a large one) can be difficult but is generally done with ease with preparation as key. If you are the maid of honour then typically you would know or know of the guests that have been invited and can begin in good time to build a list and send out the bridal shower party invitation to each person/couple to have knowledge of who is coming.

Food and drink at a bridal shower is generally nibbles like mini cakes and chocolates and traditionally biscuits and tea, but depending on the bride’s idea of a party, this is generally up to you. Other ideas such as glasses of wine or other alcohol beverages might also influence a comfortable atmosphere.

For the party decoration, it could be a nice touch to add confetti to the table covers and small dangling objects associated with weddings (like horse shoes) to help create a theme to the occasion. Themed party products can also be used in bridal shower games and to decorate food and cake stands etc. To look for party supplies, many can be found on the internet and this is always a great way to find bargains for those with a budget.

Gifts for the person who’s occasion your celebrating are usually only found traditionally with baby showers and birthdays but sometimes it is nice to purchase a small gift for the bride as a good luck token or something to put them at ease. Beauty products, wine, or sentimental picture frames or jewellery are all perfect for the bride before her big day.

If your budget is endless then perhaps a small gift for the guests is also an option. Party bags are a bit extreme but a small present to say thank you for coming like a mini wine taster or small box of chocolates is a nice idea.

The main thing is that everybody has a nice afternoon/evening and it’s the perfect preparation time before the bride’s special day. To make it more of a spontaneous event why not surprise the bride by arranging for her friends and family to arrive without her knowledge for the shower and remember it is not necessarily just a female occasion!
