went to a cake store for my bab shower cake. After explaining what I wanted lady told me I could not afford it?
Posted February 9, 2010 – 8:40 pm in: Cake Shop |I went to a local cake store to maybe get this lady to do my baby shower cake. I had a picture online of a Noahs ark baby shower cake with cupcakes. After explaining to the lady what I wanted she then told me If she did the cake I could not afford it. I really am mad at this and I feel this was discrimination. Any ideas on what to do.

yea, REPORT HER TO THE MANAGER. if he doesn’t do anything, GO ABOVE HIM.
Go somewhere else. It’s probably a good thing to know this. Maybe she could not do it, or was trying to be funny.

She probably just has no tact and she probably just meant to say that it would be really expensive because of the time and detail that went into it. Just take your picture and your business somewhere else, you don’t want to support a business that acts like this anyway. Also, remember that it is just a cake- people are going to eat it. I really doubt anyone will remember what the cake looked like a year from now- save your money for all the diapers, pictures of your baby, and making memories with your child that you will want to remember forever! Congrats!
wow if i knew where u lived i would do the cake for u…since i am apparently the baker for everyone lol. u could always try walmart i know that they do cakes like that some times and are actually quite reasonable. otherwise if u have a good baker in the family get the picture and sit down with them and try to figure it out. good luck tho hun. im sorry this lady felt that she was too good for a cake like that. i think cupcake cakes are cute as heck!!! and congrats!!!!
Report her to a manager and tell anyone you know not to shop there.
Take your business elsewhere, and tell your friends how you were treated there so they can take their business elsewhere, too. It’s called voting with your feet and it makes a far bigger statement than complaining to the manager. When they start losing customers, they may find that they can’t afford a snooty hag at their counter.
get over yourself. just go somewhere else. no need to complain to ANYBODY!! if a business repeatedly turns away customers that business will fail
I would find whoever is over that woman and complain my ass off!!! You just might get that cake for free!
